FAQ
Common questions about COD Verifier, OTPs, extension blocks, and COD fees.
Does COD Verifier replace Shopify's COD payment method?
No. COD Verifier works with your existing manual payment methods. You choose which payment method names should trigger OTP verification.
Which payment methods can trigger OTP verification?
Any manual payment method name you select in COD Verifier settings can trigger verification. The default is Cash on Delivery (COD), but you can scan recent orders or add custom names if your store uses a different label.
Where does the customer enter the OTP?
Customers enter the OTP in COD Verifier's Shopify extension blocks. Install the Thank you page block and the Order status block so customers can verify immediately after checkout or return later.
What happens if a customer fails verification?
The order receives the failed tag after the configured number of attempts. If auto-cancellation is enabled, COD Verifier can cancel unverified orders after the configured delay.
Can I change the order tags?
Yes. You can customize pending, verified, failed, and expired tags from COD Verifier settings.
Can COD Verifier charge a fee directly on the COD payment method?
No. COD fees are configured through Shopify shipping rates. Create a COD shipping rate that includes the fee, then use COD Verifier to match the rate and manage checkout rules.
Why does the COD fee setup ask for a shipping rate keyword?
COD Verifier uses the keyword to identify the Shopify shipping rate that
represents COD. Use a clear word from the rate name, such as Cash from
Cash on Delivery (+50).
Can COD fees apply only to first-time customers?
Yes. Enable Apply COD fee only to first-time customers in COD fee setup. Returning logged-in customers can use regular shipping with COD, while guests and customers with no previous orders still see the COD fee rate.
Do I need both extension blocks?
Use both when possible. The Thank you page block catches customers immediately after checkout. The Order status block gives customers a way to complete or retry verification later.
